Eastside Brotha on the Westside
Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Eastside Brotha made the move to Los Angeles just three months ago. He initially came to attend a writer’s camp, but while he was there, he realized he could work as a travel nurse and pursue the opportunities the City of Dreams had to offer. After spending five years as an ICU nurse, he saw travel nursing as a way to gain flexibility while continuing to invest in his music career. In Charlotte, where the music scene leans more heavily toward rap, he found limited space for himself as an R&B artist and knew he needed a different environment to grow.
Living with ADHD, he has learned to navigate both his career and his artistry in ways that work for him. In the ICU, the fast paced and high pressure environment allowed him to stay focused and engaged, while also requiring discipline and structure. Those same traits carry into his music, where he often manages multiple ideas and projects at once. While he acknowledges that overlapping deadlines can sometimes become overwhelming, he also recognizes that his ADHD has played a role in shaping his creativity.

Before fully stepping into his current sound, Eastside Brotha performed with a live band, building his foundation as an artist through collaboration and live energy. He and his team created their own opportunities by organizing shows, developing a platform where they could perform and grow their audience. Their first warehouse show sold out, setting the tone for what followed and establishing a network that continued to expand as more artists sought to be part of it.
As his artistry evolved, so did his approach to songwriting. He began writing lyrics and sharing them with other artists for feedback, eventually gaining attention from those interested in purchasing his work. Recognizing his strength, he pushed himself to improve through techniques like six-minute writing drills, sharpening his ability to create quickly and intentionally. His strength lies in crafting choruses, though his process remains fluid. Sometimes he starts with a melody, while other times he draws directly from his thoughts. When he hears a specific sound in his head, he actively searches for it, working with producers to bring that vision to life.

His music falls within a groovy, emotionally driven R&B space, where he aims to balance vulnerability and feeling. “I kind of want you to feel the weight in which I’m writing in,” he explains, describing a sound that allows him to move between introspection and lighter moments without losing intention. That creative intensity is tied closely to how he moves through the world.
“I want to be a part of the new vanguard for North Carolina,” he says, grounding his ambition in both his roots and his vision for the future. Just months into his move to Los Angeles, Eastside Brotha is already putting together events of his own, continuing to build the kind of platform that first helped shape his career, while moments like the one that welcomed him at LAX continue to affirm that he’s exactly where he needs to be.
