For Louisiana-born musician Gee Scott, music has never been a hobby. It has been a calling. Raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, Scott grew up surrounded by music, with his father serving as both a pastor and singer. His given name, Geroy Scott, is a family name that has been passed down through generations, a legacy that continues to push him to be his best. By the age of two, he had already received his first drum set, a gift that marked the beginning of a lifelong connection to music. Long before he stepped behind a microphone, he was developing his skills on drums and keyboards, laying the foundation for the artist he would become.
“I always knew I wanted to be a musician,” he said. Influenced by both his father and the rich musical culture of Louisiana, Scott learned early on how music could move people. When asked why he maintains such a positive outlook, his answer revealed the perspective that drives his work. "I know good exists because I have seen the most evil," he said. "If I find good in everything, it doesn't feed into the bad." That philosophy reflects a larger lesson he has learned throughout his career: authenticity matters more than trends.
His advice to other artists is simple. Be yourself.
"Authentic people don't follow trends," Scott said. "They create them, which is why they are remembered forever."
